Why I choose Kaohsiung University?Becausedoing an exchange challenge me out from my comfort zone and through it will be a special achievement for myself. And also I would like to see the study behavior in Kaohsiung University and try something new in my life.I want to gain valuable experience about how to live independently overseas and learn about their culture and their way of studying at the university that I want to achieve it. Also I see Taiwan as a beautiful country so I would like to travel more in this country, that’s why I choose Kaohsiung university as my destination for study. Also for the resource that NUK provide for the international student was free yellow bicycle for a student who want go to study from dorm to the class but this yellow bicycle is limited, also Kaohsiung provide blue bicycle for the international students to use it every time, but they should rent it first, free living dorm for a student who got scholarships, and there are washing machine that can be used if some of international students lazy to wash their own clothes. For my special experience in Taiwan was when I visit Taipei for holiday, because in Taipei I can go to many place that I can’t see in Kaohsiung like the city is different from Kaohsiung, also the night market is also different from another town in Taiwan because in Taipei there is a big night market. Things that are different in my country is in Taiwan you can choose any clothes that you want to use as long as is polite very different in my country, the food also different in my country because almost food in Taiwan commonly there is a pork so it’s different for us to find food that can be eaten. And for the common things that same with my country was the study behavior because from what I can see every university student have same style in study.
My student’s life in NUK is they give us free accommodation to use yellow bicycle for free and can join any activities that international student like, also class situation is live and quite good because the school provide us a good facilities, for participation in OIA is we fill out international events held annually by OIA, namely we sing and dance then take part in cooking competitions from our country,And usually this program is attended by every international student. And for the activities that I did during my study here, we took a tour study, then I also took extracurricular activities like playing football, and also I often went to the gym to keep my body healthy.
And for my experience that I can share when I was study in Kaohsiung university is little by little I learnt their language about how to speak mandarin, also learnt about the Taiwan people behavior about how their association and how Taiwan people treat people from another country is from my experience they really respect people who study in their country and try to help them if there is a problem when they was study. This Exchange program will be a good collaboration between Universitas Tanjungpura college student and the exchange students to strengthen the good relationship between this two universities. And my suggestion for the students who want exchange in Kaohsiung university is first thing that you should do is learnt their language mandarin because if you can learnt their language, you can decrease your problem. Then be ready for the food also because the food in Taiwan is different from the food in Indonesia, and I suggest you before you go to Taiwan you should bring your own country food also in order to adapt to the conditions of food there. Thank you that’s all I can say from my experience in Taiwan.
